Where the HELL have I BEEN!!

2 months since my last posting ! Holy Cow!@!
YUP, its been awhile....too long I guess, but I've been busy.
School & just laziness to some degree.....but really school. I am on the computer but no time to do this or I choose to do something else.

I am on my 2nd class this summer, it will end the beginning of Aug. I have a 3rd one that starts after Independence Day. It will wrap up on Aug 14th.
Then about 2-3 week break and I am taking a class in the fall. For now - just one.

It is hard to believe sometimes that I am attending college again. But it is fun when I am walking around campus and I think about it - I am glad to make the decision to finish.

Last weekend was a scrapping marathon! & it was GREAT!! I scrapped Friday, Saturday & Sunday!! WHOOOOOOHOOOOO!! I have been working on my for NOLA. It is almost done. I need to take some pics but again.......just been lil' lazy, but soon!

Have a GREAT day & I am going to try to be a little more faithful in updating my blog.

A LOT to take in!! Needless to say...I CANNOT wait to go back!!

The weather was PERFECT!! The sites were AMAZING!! From the
historic buildings, which were in every direction you turned & all so
unique; on to the performers in Pedestrian Mall ( a couple you see I
posted) to the WONDERFUL & I mean WONDERFUL food!! I tried
crawfish and chargrilled oysters - pretty good stuff!! Plus, the fun

What Happens When You Get Rain In S. TX

Okay, God has to have a sense of humor. And I think this proves it.
We have not had rain in over 6 mths. So a storm comes thru on Thursday...well, we got our rain, but it was "MUD RAIN"!!! LOL!!!
It literally rained drops of MUD!! Can you believe that! How CRAZY!! So, you cannot tell me that Mother Nature doesn't like to have fun at our expense occasionally. :)

It was a dust storm from Mexico that combined with the rainstorm to produce this result - MUD RAIN! Gee....aren't we lucky!
So you can JUST about imagine the LINES at all the car washes!! And then of course, as you can see how the sun was shining the next day & how beautiful it was. Gotta Love it!

Has it been that long??

I didn't realize til tonight how long its been since my last post! WOW!
So I figured I had better put something up.

I have a new project that I started on Friday. Actually, its something that I have wanted to do for a long time & just now started it. Its a Sister themed album. It will be a surprise but I can post it here since neither of my sisters check out my blog! LOL!

It came together so well last week. I am getting excited to start putting it all together. Right now, no real pages to post, since I did all & I mean ALL of my cutting. 87 lil' black 4x6's and 87 lil' green background 4x6's!!! I started to stamp on Monday night & finished those 87 pages.
Since you know I am all about finding a deal...the albums are actually 4x6 wire bound photo albums that I found at Target on clearance. 3 for $6.50!! Now that is a bargain!!! I JUST HAD to have them!

I am hoping to get something a little more put together this weekend.
It will be their Mother's Day gifts this year. I cannot wait to see how they turn out!!

Note: You will hear me mention 87 pages alot!! :)

Where Have I Been???!!

Yes, it has been a LONG time since my last post. Almost 2 weeks.
Well, at this point the 31 days of organization/inspiration has ended - hope you enjoyed it while it lasted. I am kinda surprised I lasted as long as I did!! hehehe!!

Been busy preparing my stuff for the scrapbook sale at my LS. It was today so bright n' early I went to drop my stuff off to be sold to a new loving scrapper who will hopefully use the stuff I paid full price for and now am willing to go for fifty cents! YIKES!! LOL!!
I hope that I did well....that way I can use my credit to get new stuff!! yeyeyeyeyesssssssss!!

I went on Wednesday to see Michael Buble in concert!! OMG!! That was such a FANTASTIC show!! I knew it would be good but it completely blew me away! Definitely up there with my top concerts!! If you ever get the chance to see him do so...even your man will thank you at the end of the night for dragging him there!! ;)

Hope all of you have a great weekend!!

18th Idea for Inspiration

Replace years old pics in frames with new ones.

This was actually long overdue. It was refreshing to take out the old & put in some new pics. Nice to change it up every once in awhile. I did like this idea.
I have one pic that I am waiting for from a friend...so for now its a lonely, empty lil' frame. Hopefully not for long!!

Happy Inspiring!!

Clearing out my Scrap Stuff

Yesterday I REALLY REALLY went through all my scrap/craft stuff again. I am getting ready for a garage sale that my LSS is having on 3/1/08. I have to have all my stuff that I want to sell in bags & priced with my table # on it too. As the store sells the stuff for you. Last fall I participated for the first time & it was GREAT!!

After going through everything I realized that I had gotten rid of much more than I realized. So now I am really limited to what I have for embellishments - all in one medium size basket & its not even full!!

Paper....I put A LOT of it in the pile to sell!! I put gadgets in there too.. Xyron machine - before they came out w/new cool ones. Light table...scrap albums/journals that I have not used in a couple years and am unlikely to use in the next couple of years :) I do have some magazines but not nearly as much.

I have a lot of empty containers, plastic bins, drawers, & baskets!! I think I will have to re-organize where I keep them all!! Did not see that one coming!! But its all good!

After this I hope to use what I have and then only buy as I know I am going to use it for a project. We will see how that marvelous idea pans out for me!

Happy Organizing!!

17th Idea for Organization

Put all spare buttons into 1 box.

This one was timely because yesterday I spent time going through my scrap stuff. I had only 2 containers - sorry!! :( Bent the rules a little. LOL!!
I have one that has only "real" buttons, like for your slacks, sweaters, shirts, etc.... Then the other container is for all the "fun" buttons - for crafting and the like.

Happy Organizing!!

16th Idea for Organization

Clean your sink.

Well, this one was due in the kitchen. I had procrastinated in washing dishes so I got up this morning made breakfast and cleaned the kitchen sink.
After this I plan to head to both bathrooms to clean them. Saturday mornings normally are my cleaning time~ most of the time!! :)

Now I am back on track with my ideas for organizing so that is a good thing today!

Happy Organizing and Inspiring!!

15th Idea for Organization

Clear all expired food from refrigerator.

This one was good to do on Friday since I had just done some grocery shopping. So as some goes into the fridge some is getting tossed out.
Mostly, I had limp carrots, moldy peppers, hard limes, and some expired condiments. Not too bad. But then a single gal's fridge is not heavily stocked to begin with! LOL!!

Happy Organizing!

14th Idea for Inspiration

Make a short list of doable resolutions.

1). Pay off my flight to NOLA before the trip.
2). Get MP3 player before NOLA trip.
3). FINALLY get my scrap room together.
4). Go to crop one time each month.
5). New computer by the fall of '08.

Tag - Vera

Saw this on Vera's blog and I decided to do it.
1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages). "The Best Year of Your Life" by Debbie Ford
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the 5th sentence.
4. Post the next 3 sentences.
"So many of us have wasted so much of our vital energy talking about the great life we could have or will have or should have. All that is fine, but it will not deliver us the best year of our lives. It won't motivate us or anyone else, and it certainly won't give us the success and fulfillment we long for."

That was fun....VERY interesting too....hmmm.

12th Idea of Inspiration

Donate to a favorite charity.Every so often an organization will send out these bright colored postcards asking for donations.
I have donated before and they make it so easy too. You just bag up your donations and tape this card to them, set them on your front porch & they will come by to pick it up from your house.

You do not have to do much & it makes a difference to so many people. Just donate your clothing, shoes, and the like. This came at a good time b/c I was able to clean out my closet and help at the same time.

In the past 4 years I have become much more active in my community by donating my time (mostly time) and money to various causes. March of Dimes, Race for the Cure, Leukemia & Lymphona Society, Cystic Fibrosis Fdtn, Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society, and some others.
Often you hear that the person donating their time gets just as much as the person or organization they are helping. I can say that is ABSOLUTELY true!
It is by far a very rewarding and heartwarming experience.

If you are considering helping or donating please look into your heart and you will find the direction to the organization that means the most to you. Anything you do will not go unwarranted.

Happy Inspiring & Volunteering!!

11th Idea for Organization

Program 5 essential numbers into your cell phone.

I had to think about this one for little bit. Here are the numbers that I selected as "essential". In no particular order:
1. Auto insurance company
2. Doctor #1
3. 911 - that is Scrapbook 911 - my local scrapbook store! :) Here is their site in case you do not believe that is really their name. http://www.bee-noticed.com/
4. Doctor #2
5. Neighbor

10th Idea for Inspiration

Grab a power nap.

BOYYYYYYY!! Did that feel Gooooooooood!!!
I have not taken a nap in the middle of the afternoon since I don't know when...I have been missing out! This felt wonderful & I guess I really needed it.

It was not planned, just happened. I was going to read the paper but I laid down on the bed - turned the TV on and before long I was huggin' my pillow! LOL!

I highly recommend it from time to time to everyone!
Happy Inspiring!!

9th Idea for Inspiration

Swap music.Well, this was modified to "burn music". I visited my girlfriend in Austin today & it was a good time! We laughed, talked, & listened to music (which both of us really love!!)
She was kind enough to burn 6 discs for me!! Something new to feed my taste for a new vibe, Ruthie Foster, & then some oldie but goodies from her personal collection that she lovingly entitles "Lova Undacova"!! (Its some GREAT sh*%!!)
Music is a big passion of mine & I always am inspired & moved by it!! Thanks chica!! It was great to spend some time with you....see ya' in 2 weeks (wink-wink!!)
Happy Inspiring!!

Friday Fill In

Thanks Kelly for the idea!!

1. I'm looking forward to & alittle anxious about starting school in the summer.
2. Paris is a place I've always wanted to visit and haven't made it there yet.
3. I've fallen in love with ME!! I LOVE & value ME!!
4. Six of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. (not sure what this one was about?)
5. Addiction: Junior Mints
6. The way my dogs run around n' play with each other cracks me up!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to taking a shower after this, getting in my jammies, getting comfy on the sofa & watching a movie. Tomorrow my plans include taking a day trip to visit my girlfriend in Austin and Sunday go to church in the morning, reading the paper, relaxing, and then in the evening going to a church group meeting. The 1st meeting is Sunday & its for 6-8 weeks. I'm going to join this church.

8th Idea for Organization/Inspiration

Schedule a day off from work.

This was very last minute. At a little after 5pm on Thursday I asked if I could have Friday off. After getting a little 'tude I was able to get the day off.

Its 6pm on my day off & I did exactly what I needed to...housework! Yes, I scheduled a day off to do housework! How absolutely ridiculous is that!&%!

Lately, I have been VERY lazy & unmotivated to clean my house...so for the past 2-3 weeks I have been making due. So it was due time for an overhaul. & boy is my energy level running REALLY low now. I actually feel like taking a nap.

But I have a cleaner house, cleaned out my closet, washed the car, did a little out in the yard, ran errands, & checked the mail...which I had not for a week! (Luz, I know that is unimaginable to you! LOL!!)

It was a beautiful day out & I did get to spend it with my babies so that made it even better.
Happy Organizing & Inspiring!!

7th Idea for Organization

Check oil in your car.

Well, I did a little better than that. I had my oil changed, fluids checks, & tires too. Plus, then I gave, as the guy at the car place, said "vitamins for my car". I put this fuel injector cleaning fluid in my tank.
I'm planning a day trip on Saturday & have more peace of mind if I have my car looked at before going.
Happy Organizing!

6th Idea for Organization/Inspiration

Try one new food.

Some friends and I got together for dinner n' drinks. We ate at Cabo Tropical Grille. I decided to try a new dish (actually I've never eaten there before).

Tacos Marineros
2 grilled corn tortillas filled with your choice of seasoned shrimp or
white fish fillet with lettuce & tomatoes.
Served with rice, charro beans, & mango pico de gallo.

YUMMY!!!! It was delicious!! I had one of each. I am not a "fish" taco girl - normally chicken fajitas, but I may have a new fav!!
Happy Inspiration!!

PS...Sorry for missing a couple of days! But I am Baaaaack!! :)

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

5th Idea for Organization

Toss all the liquor bottles that are less than 1/8th full.

Hmmmmmmm....this I have to say was the easiest one so far.
Uh, I have only 3 bottles in my house and neither are near getting that low. & believe me if they were I would take care of that!! - like our mothers always yelled "who put the milk back in the refrig when there is only a swallow left!!"
Hate for that GOOD stuff to go to waste!! LOL!!!

Monday, February 4, 2008

4th Idea for Organization

Take digital photos of the valuables in 1 room for insurance purposes.

This was actually something I really did need to do.
It was SUPER quick & easy - yes!! As tonight I almost overlooked doing my idea!!
I hope to finish taking pics of all the other stuff by this weekend. I think I should have plenty of time to do it. :)
Sorry, so short but its getting late & this girl needs her beauty rest! Ciao!
Happy Organizing & Inspiring!!

3rd Idea for Organization

3rd Idea: Empty e-mail in box.

I thought this would be an easy task...be done & then on my way to other things I need to do.
Uh...my computer had other ideas...that prevented my organization!! LOL!
I had 105 messages in my in box. No big deal to clean out & either delete of file away. Well, folks it took me almost 1 WHOLE STINKIN' HOUR to clean out 103 e-mails!! What the $%*#!!!

My computer really was testing my patience today.

So....not only did I accomplish #3 but I have now added "getting a new computer" to Idea #19!!!
HAH!! take that you old computer!!

***(Okay, I know I better play nice nice until I actually have the new computer, b/c this guy may test my patience even more! (Sorry - Nice Computer!))

Happy Organizing!!!

2nd Idea to Organization

Speed clean 1 drawer - have one box for trash & one to donate

When I saw this idea immediately you think of the all dreaded "JUNK DRAWER"!!
ekkkkkkkk!!!
Then I thought which drawer should I clean out that may actually do me some good for organization? Ahhhh....the bra & panty drawer!!!

Well, I cleaned it out & organized it. Unfortunately, I did not get rid of any bras. Do not have many to begin with! But my trash box did have some panties!! Don't really think that panties are an item that you should donate!?!? Ewwww....

:) Hope you all had a GREAT day & Happy Organizing!!

1st Idea - 1st Day to Organization

Day 1 is here!!!
The 1st idea is to Write a bona fide letter to someone who won’t expect it.
"Think of a person who really matters to you and recount one of your most hilarious moments together, thank her for guiding you through a difficult time, or just tell her that you want to get together more often."

I have had this card for some time and knew eventually I would get a chance to send it. Well, this is the perfect card for my girlfriend and I. We have been friends for almost 20 years now!!
We have worked together, been roommates, but most of all been there for each other.

Don't we all want to take a sip from that magic potion from time to time when it comes to men!
Enjoy your day & Happy Organizing & Inspiring!!

29 Ideas to Organization Challenge

At the beginning of the year I received this article, a really neat one about 31 ideas to 31 days of organization.
So I have a friend I JUST knew it would be RIGHT up her alley. Boy, was I right...huh Vera!! :) And well to be honest, I need some organization help myself. :) I sent it to her and now we have a challenge starting!! Woo HOO!!

It will begin on February 1st and I will be doing my utmost to make sure I post daily the challenge! That in of itself will be a challenge on its own! LOL! So then I am getting 2 for the price of 1! LOL!!

If you, like most of us, could use some tips check my blog out and see what may work for you. Plus, see how I am coming along in this challenge! Plus, if you are doing it I decided to pick up one of the ideas, I would love to see what you did! Post a comment or send me an e-mail!
See you all on February 1st!!

Just some random thoughts...

Today was a good day. Actually, considering everything this week so far has not been bad at all.
Some events happened today that really made me think, in the kind of way where you turn your head cock-eyed in one direction and go "hmmmm...."
Needless to say, as I type this post I am doing it right now. LOL!!

People really can make you go "hmmm..." No one is perfect by any means but it is funny who you can rely upon and who well...may not be so reliable. It can be anything from morale support, just a message, the way they respond to something, don't respond, or it can be when you are going through something really tough or even worse when you may have accomplished something -- you may just be surprised at what people say or DO NOT say.

We all have been guilty of focusing on the negative or saying something negative but I would hope that most of are old enough to have moved past it. But I really wonder if those around us or okay me do they really want me to be happy? do they want me to succeed? do they wish me the best? are they in my corner?
Or is it easier for them to focus on the negative b/c they have their own issues to deal with? Maybe they are too self-absorbed to even realize they are doing this --- nah, chances are they know it but they have to save face & keep up with the charade instead of acknowledging it.

I try to be positive, try not to speak ill of anyone, pay a compliment but sometimes I feel them pulling me into their behavior...so I can become one of them. It is a challenge to separate & keep your own senses at times. Especially when you hear the stuff that comes out of their mouths! Geez! makes you wonder.

Well...like I said just some random thoughts. Take them for what they are or ignore it or maybe take a look and ask yourself how do I treat the people I come across on a daily basis? Strangers, family, friends, co-workers, sales clerks, etc... all included.

DESERVING '08

I have found my word for 2008...Deserving.
Tonight, I tried to find my word. I wanted to find a word that started with "D" and this one could not have been better. I have been thinking a lot lately & when I saw this word it all came clear.

This is the year that I claim that as my own. It is very fitting for a lot that is going on right now in my life.
Deserving: worthy of being treated in a particular way because of one's actions or qualities; worthiness

Then I had another ah-ha moment on my way home from a crop...I was doing more thinking, of course, & there it was in the sky the brightest, longest streaming shooting star I have EVER seen! It was a sign to me that I HAVE to CLAIM it ALL this year, because I DESERVE it, in order for it to be the Best Year of My Life.

So here it goes....Let's see what happens!

WOW! Crazy Stuff...

I saw the previews for this new show on VH1 - "Celebrity Rehab w/Dr. Drew". Those of us from the old MTV days will remember him as the therapist/voice of reason on the Sex Talk show he had w/some guy named Adam.
Well....this afternoon I caught a replay of the 2nd episode. OH MY GOODNESS!! It was ... I am sitting here with my head shaking b/c I cannot find the right word(s) to describe this show. One thought that does come to mind is that it is shocking the lengths people will go to remain in denial. And what they are willing to put their bodies through time & time again to relieve that pain they are feeling.
There are some stars on it I have not heard of but then others we will all recognize. The one that really stands out, or at least these 1st few episodes, is Jeff Conway. Star of Taxi & Grease. But taking the "star" factor out of the picture & realizing that they are human beings just like you & me -- to see at what point they are in their life & how their addiction has taken its toll on their mind, body & spirit is what really gets me.
I was thinking this is the kind of stuff that our youth needs to see to scare them straight (remember that video we all saw or heard about to keep us away from drugs??!!) Well, this would do it for me if I was a kid! NO WAY am I touching that stuff!
So...when you are channel surfing, b/c there is nothing on cable, if you come across this show check it out. Its not pretty, its not nice but is really raw & vulnerable with human emotion, pain, and it is like "WOW! Crazy stuff!".

Best Year of My Life

This is one of my FAVORITE pics I have taken!!
I LOVE the way the sun is coming through the trees & you can see its beams. Plus, I love the brightness of it glistening off the water.
It reminds me of how beautiful nature is and that it is always a new day...even when you cannot always get to see & feel the warmth of the sun...It IS still a New Day!!
A New Beginning!!
I am committed to living the Best Year of My Life!! My mantra is Make '08 GREAT!!
I have begun reading a book of the same title & of course, like many, its a lot of what we already know, but you must be in the right mind, place, & time to accept & open yourself to this philosophy. I truly BELIEVE I am there!
This will hold its own set of challenges, but it will also have its own rewards & blessings!
Let's all start living the Best Year of Our Lives!!!
Make '08 GREAT!!

Yesterday in the mail I got a nice little surprise!!
It was a WELCOME BACK letter from school!! I have been accepted back at the university as a Senior!! YES!!! WOO HOO!!!
It was some GREAT news to get yesterday!! It really helped to make my day even better than it already was!!
So now the work will begin. I have to meet with an advisor to see what classes I have to take, when they may be available, best degree plan for me, how long it may take, etc...
I guess I better enjoy my free time while I can b/c its ALL about to change!!!!

New Year New Beginnings

HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone!!
Hard to believe another year come n' gone!! But I am happy to put '07 behind me!
Ready for all the new beginnings I want to start in 2008!!
2007 was a tough but fruitful year.

I know that 2008 it hold its own challenges but I feel better equipped to manage them.
Goals....Resolutions...Commitments....We all make them as the new year starts but how do we fair when the end of the year comes around??!! Did you keep your resolutions?! Its not a trick question but more of a rhetorical one.

I have heard that if you post/write your goals down and put them somewhere where you can see them you are more likely to achieve them. Or at least have better success - thats all I want!
So....without further adieu here it goes:
(in no particular order & subject to my perogative to change @ any time!) LOL!

~ Continue to manage weight & lifestyle change
~ Go to church more often
~ Save $$ to buy laptop for school
~ Go to a crop at least 1 time each month
~ NO more new scrap stuff!! Only can purchase paper or adhesive until I put a significant dent in my hordes of scrapping supplies!!
~ Plan a budget and really attempt to stick with it

Well folks there they are in b/w!! Hopefully, I can keep my commitments!!!
(I did go to church last Sunday and already attend a crop this month!!)
Just don't ask if I bought any new scrap supplies!! LOL!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR again!! Make '08 GREAT!! (oh...my new mantra!!)
